Principal Cast

Young Hal/Hal King (Tyrik Ballard)- Young poet. Son of a local politician. He runs with a group of itinerant, fast living artists, musicians and writers.

Kat French (Sharae' Moultrie)– A young and energetic poet and activist. Introduces Hal to the burgeoning black nationalist movement.

Henry King (Eric Roberson) – Hal's father. Upstanding, kind, and concerned citizen. A civic leader.

Leroy French (Tony McLendon)– Kat's father. A rival politician.

Hotspur (Darien Dean)– Also known as Percy. Ambitious and proper young man. Hal's cousin. Looks to be Henry King’s true successor.

Half Staff (Ryan Shaw)- Beloved "saint and mascot" of Hal and his friends. Trumpet player, drug addict, and drunk.

Scroop (Dion Davis)– Lead henchman for Leroy French. In love with Kat.

Doll Tearsheet (Sophia Nicole Stephens)– Mysterious and sexy jazz chanteuse.

Madame Quickly (Tarrey Torae)– Proprietress of the jazz/poetry club Hal and his friends frequent.

Dubs (Antonio C. McLendon)– Soldier in The Korean War. In the same troop with Hal and Hotspur.

Stokes (LaRob K. Payton)– Soldier in The Korean War. In the same troop with Hal and Hotspur.
